VAZA Spanish Wines

VAZA is the result of a desire to emphasize the beautiful Tempranillo fruit of the Alavesa region in a vibrant and contemporary-styled Rioja wine. At our winery Solar Viejo, located in the village of Laguardia at the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria mountains, our winemaking team employs a modern philosophy of using a lighter touch of oak, allowing the unmasked fruit to be front and center with a nod to the traditional earthiness that is the hallmark of Rioja wine. The name VAZA originates from the Spanish word "baza" meaning trump card, which speaks to the wine's place in the Ferrer Family Wines as a fusion of Spain's winemaking vanguard and the region's rich wine history.

VAZA offers a Rioja Tempranillo and Rioja Crianza.

"Earth, leather, herb and berry aromas set up a firm palate and gripping structure. The midpalate is focused on red fruit and light oak tones, while the finish is crisp, fresh and zesty."
- Wine Enthusiast, February 2015

FEATURED- 2012 VAZA Cosecha
"This young Tempranillo is very fruity and fresh, providing pure red berries on an easy drinking palate. Could be served lightly chilled to accompany a hot summer day's lunch."
